BACK GROUND OF COMMISSION

The Estimates Committee of the Parliament, in its 47th Report (1967-68), recommended the setting up of a Service Selection Commission for conducting examinations for recruitment to lower categories of posts. Pursuant to this, and as an interim measure, an Examination Wing was initially added to the Secretariat Training School, subsequently renamed as the Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM).
In pursuance of the recommendations made by the Administration Reforms Commission (ARC), the Government of India decided to constitute a Subordinate Services Commission under an Executive Resolution. The Subordinate Services Commission was established under Government of India in the year 1975. It was renamed as Staff Selection Commission.


 The exams conducted by SSC are
  1. SSC - CGL (COMBINED GRADUATE LEVEL EXAM)
  2. SSC - CHSL (10+2) LDC AND DEO.
  3. SSC - MTS (MULTI TASKING STAFF)
  4. SSC - J.E (JUNIOR ENGINEER)
  5. SSC - CPO (CENTRAL POLICE FORCES)
  6. SSC - CONSTABLE AND GD
  7. SSC - STENOGRAPHER.

OTHER EXAM :
  FCI - FOOD CORPORATION OF INDIA.
